On 21 August 2008, the Sakhalin Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (OFAS Russia) recognized that «RN-Vostoknefteproduct» Ltd. violated Article 10 of the Federal Law «On Protection of Competition» (abusing dominant position on a goods market) and issued a determination to eliminate the violations.
Earlier Sakhalin OFAS Russia received petitions from economic entities involved in retail sales of petrol and diesel fuel in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The Petitioners stated that «RN-Vostoknefteproduct» Ltd. was unreasonably setting different prices for the same goods.
Having investigated the case, the antimonopoly office concluded that «RN-Vostoknefteproduct» Ltd. infringed the interests of economic entities by setting monopolistically low prices for diesel fuel at the company's petrol stations in June 2008.
Finalizing the case, the Sakhalin OFAS Russia issued a determination to «RN-Vostoknefteproduct» Ltd. on inadmissibility of the actions that can prevent competition and (or) can restrict or eliminate competition and violate the antimonopoly legislation.
The Sakhalin OFAS Russia also initiated an administrative case under Article 14.31 of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations.
